After that we decided to take a look at the Durham forest located just south of Uxbridge. The Rouge valley is a spectacular chunk of wilderness so close to metropolitan Toronto you wouldn't believe it. If you want to know just how close it is, The metro Toronto Zoo is actually part of the Rouge park.

We visited 4 in all. I wanted to visit at least 3 more on the west side of the lake but during the 3rd geocach on Scugog Island Zoi our dog decided to roll in a dead fish. She stunk so bad the kids just wanted to get home as soon as possible. Wow what great hiking spot. It's also a snowmobile's and ATV'ers paradise with trails criss crossing everywhere. There were also all kinds of people horse back riding on the trails. It was amazing to see so many people using the trails for so many different activities. Our site at Sauble Falls Provincial Park turned out to be better than I expected.

I managed to visit 3 conservation areas. Pottawatomi, Bruce's Caves and Ingles Falls. Didn't get to Indian River Conservation area, but the 3 we did visit, were amazing.

And I even caught a nice sized lake trout. Only took 4 years. That was Friday. Saturday we went for a wonderful canoe trip. It started out in snow, sleet and rain mix, but by lunch it had warmed up and the clouds broke up. On Sunday we hiked the Track and Tower loop which is 7.7 km. What a hike that was.
