Long Sault Conservation Area

Trail Map / Brochure

Long Sault Conservation area is located in the heart of the Oak Ridges Moraine just north of Bownmanville and north east of Oshawa. Long Sault is a great place to escape for the day with friends and family.

There are 5 main trails that all loop and inter connect with one another. The partridge trail, the rabbit trail, the owl trail, the white tailed deer trail and the bluebird trail. On this day we only managed to walk the rabbit and white tailed deer trails.

Our mission on this day was to locate a couple geocaches in the area. There are actually 3 geocaches in Long Sault. For those of you who are not familiar with geocaching, basically its like a treasure hunt using a gps. The first geocache was supposed to be located just off the rabbit trail but we could not find it. The second we did find just off the white tailed deer trail. The third we did not even have time to look for but there is enough trail here to return for another day.

The trails at Long Sault are all very well kept and well marked. It is recommended that you stay on the trails at all times unless you are immune to poison ivy. I visited in early may and noticed the stuff everywhere you looked.
