Pottawatomi Conservation Area
TRAIL MAP
I was disappointed with Jone's Falls only because the water going over the falls was reduced to only a trickle. The timing of my visit probably had allot to do with this. In early spring during the spring thaw I'm sure the water level would be much higher. The river was shallow enough that you could walk across the rocks in places and not get soaker.
Jone's Falls is located on the Niagara Escarpment as are all the waterfalls in the area. There are huge boulders just to the left of were we entered the trail. The kids loved and played on the large boulders here.
There are three entrances to the falls. The shortest one which we took is from highway 6 & 21. A second is located off of highway 6 in the town of Springmount at the travel information building. A 3rd is located on the Derby Kepple Townline. The Derby Kepple entrance is the longest hike to the falls and also has access to the Spring side trail which is part of the Bruce Trail.
we didn't spend allot of time here but it was very interesting and we were able to get more information about other conservation areas and hiking trails at the information building located at the highway 6 entrance in Springmount.
